South Africa’s third biggest poultry company JSE-listed Country Bird Holdings Limited is planning to open a multi-million dollar facility in the area of Karibib, 170km northwest of Windhoek, Namibia.

Through its wholly owned Namibian subsidiary Ross Africa Limited, Country Bird said it intends to establish a unit that incorporates all aspects of poultry production, commencing with the breeding and rearing of birds, through to poultry products. There are also plans for the establishment of a hatchery, a farm to rear the birds, a feed mill and an abattoir for slaughtering chicken.
On Thursday 8 May, the company will hold a meeting with the residents of Karibib as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment study.
