Going back to the basics of broiler growing was the focus at the Ross broiler seminar held recently in Ethiopia. More than 60 delegates attended the seminar, held at the Dreamland Hotel in Debre Zeit, including representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Government Farms, the Ethiopian Poultry Association as well as broiler growers.
The interactive seminar was organised by Birnihigo Poultry and supported by Bulent Tanyildizi, Ross International Commercial Manager and Dr Ibrahim Ibrahim, Ross International Technical Manager. The sessions included contributions from delegates and covered themes including brooding set up, litter management, broiler nutrition, replacement of broilers and common broiler diseases.
Discussing the seminar, Bulent said: “With Ross being the leading breed in the market, supporting the industry with seminars, roadshows and workshops is important to us and meets our objective to ‘train the trainer’ at local level.”
Dr Ibrahim added: “Ethiopia is a newly established market with great potential, thanks to its stable political landscape and growing population. Providing seminars such as this along with our continuous programme of workshops and roadshows will hopefully go a long way to the market reaching its potential.”
Milkias Meshullam from Birnihigo Poultry commented: “I was delighted to welcome the Ross team to Debre Zeit and Ethiopia to present this seminar. We had a great turnout with a lot of key industry personnel attending. The sessions were well received with delegates appreciating the breadth and quality of sessions on offer.”
