The Russian veterinary authorities have banned the import of poultry produced by US Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation following the spread of a salmonella outbreak.

“The import of poultry meat and poultry products produced by Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation at the Springdale plant [Arkansas] has been suspended,” the Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection Service said in a statement.

According to the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 79 people in 26 US states contracted salmonella and one person has died.
