Russia intercepts US hatching eggs with fake certification

Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, has detected a fake veterinary certificate for a consignment of US hatching eggs.

The certificate accompanying a consignment of eggs from Morris Hatchery Company, has prompted the authorities to suspend any further certification of this company’s products for the Russian market.

It had been previously agreed that Rosselkhoznadzor would be notified in advance about every consignment of hatchery eggs exported by the US companies to the Russian market by sending scanned authentic veterinary certificates for every consignment.

The Rosselkhoznadzor sent copies of the veterinary certificates for the commercial consignments of hatchery eggs delivered from the USA to Russia within 2013 – 2014 to USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) for retrospective authenticity check of the certificates.
