Russia removes ban on Ukrainian chicken meat supplier

09-02-2012 | | |

One of the largest producesr of chicken meat in Ukraine, MHP may resume supplying chicken to Russia.

The ban on imports was implemented by Rosselhoznadzor in October of last year due to violations of sanitary and veterinary requirements of the manufacturer.

“The company MHP plans to export to Russia about 2.5-3.2 tons of chicken per month. The declared export volume means that the total share of exports of MHP chicken to Russia may rise to 8-10% of total sales of chicken of this meat producer. This will increase the share of exports of poultry meat of Ukraine in 2012 to 10-13% and also will slightly lower the offer on the domestic market to maintain the upward price trend, which has been incipient in the second half of 2011,” said Andrew Patiota, senior analyst at Ukrainian investment group “Art Capital”.

According to experts, exports to Russia are not currently critical for MHP, but after launching the first stage of its farm in Ladyzhin in 2013, MHP will have to increase exports of its chicken meat, including to such a large market as Russia.
