Saudi export ban triggers egg shortage fears

Saudi Arabia’s recent ban on the export of poultry products has triggered a severe shortage of eggs in the country’s domestic market. Retailers and consumers fear that the price of poultry and eggs will increase.

The short supplies are a result of the Saudi government imposing a blanket ban on the export of poultry products due to the upcoming Haj season, market sources said.

In the past, the Saudi government only imposed restrictions on poultry export but this time around, the ban is total.
