Thai flooding boosts chicken export demand

09-11-2011 | | |

Thailand’s chicken exports are on track despite heavy flooding with advanced orders for delivery booked through until the third quarter of 2012, the Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association has stated.

“Although most broiler farms have seen no impact from the floods, buyers are concerned about logistics and shipment delays”, explains Kukrit Arepageorn, manager of the Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association adding that most orders have come from Japan and the EU, the two biggest buyers of Thai chicken products.

No export drop is anticipated  this year with Thailand on track to ship out 450,000 tonnes or more of chicken meat, a rise of 6.3% year-on-year.
