Tyson has announced that it will spend $5 million for its Shelbyville, Tennessee, poultry plant, adding 40 new jobs.

According to Wally Taylor, manager of the Shelbyville complex, work on the improvements will begin shortly, designed to streamline operations and add jobs. He also said that it is expected that the work on the expansion should be finished by the middle of May.

The $5 mln upgrade is to be spent on some of the plant’s chicken processing, packaging and labeling lines, as well as the installation of new processing equipment, and that’s where the new jobs come in.

Taylor said that the improvements will make the Shelbyville operation more efficient and add flexibility to its production process.
