UK poultry farm plan rejected

For almost five years now the locals have been fighting the facility in Scotland, with approx. 12,000 objections being sent to Fife Council.

It is reported that recorder Michael Cunliffe wrote to the main residents’ group to explain to them that the appeal has been rejected.

Local campaigner Carolyn Scott: “We feel absolutely delighted. It’s been a black cloud hanging over our heads for nearly five years. It went to public inquiry and that was gruesome… It’s a good day for democracy.”

Residents were very concerned that the proposed facility would produce an unpleasant odour.  Additionally, they cited the likelihood of heavy lorries using a minor road which is often used by walkers and cyclists.

Councillor Andrew Arbuckle, who represented the local authority: “I think it’s the correct decision. The application would have had a detrimental effect to the locality.”
