Supplies of poultry products to the EU will allow Ukraine to enter the top ten world leaders in the export of poultry meat this year, first vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov said, opening a cabinet meeting.

“The fact that the Ukrainian poultry producers are able to export their products to European countries helps us to expand the geography of exports. This year, Ukraine has every opportunity to enter the top ten world leaders in export of poultry,” Arbuzov said.

According to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, Ukrainian poultry companies that have the right to export poultry meat to the European Union will this year supply the local market at least with the 50,000 tons of chicken meat.

The Union of Poultry Producers of Ukraine expects that in 2013 the total exports of poultry products may increase to 140,000 tons from 80,000 tons in 2012. Furthermore, Ukraine poultry exports could grow by 20-30% per year, due to the strong growth in demand for Ukraine poultry from the Middle East countries.
