Exports of poultry meat and poultry processed products from the Ukraine increased by 29,200 tonnes in January-March, according to the State Statistics Service of the country. In monetary terms, export was amounted to US$ 49.9 million, which is more than double the first quarter of 2012.
In addition, the import of poultry meat and poultry processed products for the first three months of 2013 fell by 1.3% – to 17,240 tonnes versus 17,470 tonnes during the same period last year. According to official statics the total cost of imported products amounted to US$20.2 million.
As domestic production continues to increase, the production of eggs in the country grew by 3% in comparison with January-March of the last year, while the production of poultry rose by 19%.
At the same time the largest producers, including companies such as MHP and Agromars continued to increase their market share.
“A consolidation of the market is being observed, with the growth of large enterprises, and at the same time, the decrease in the market share of small enterprises,” said Alexander Bakumenko, chairman of the Union of Poultry Farmers, Ukraine.
