Ukraine poultry producers hope to increase the quotas for duty-free poultry meat to the European Union (EU) from the current 36,000 tonnes per year to 80,000-100,000 tonnes per year.
The regime of autonomous trade preferences has been extended for Ukraine in 2015.
“Preferences are continuing, and we will have the same quota, which we have this year. We expect to hold talks with our partners to increase these quotas. We will ask to extend them to 80,000-100,000 tonnes of annual supplies. And the second thing that we are interested in is the changing of the supplying range,” said the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union of Poultry Breeders of Ukraine, Alexander Bakumenko.
He recalled that the Ukrainian poultry producers have the right to supply to the EU 36,000 tonnes before November 1 2014 and in particular, 20,000 tonnes in carcasses, and 16,000 tonnes of chicken parts.
“We need to increase the proportion of parts, because that market required that more so than carcasses, and thereby we are ready to reduce the volume of supply of an intact carcass,” said Bakumenko.
He added that over the last four months Ukraine exported to the EU 10,000 tonnes of poultry meat.
