US: Poultry groups welcome EPA’s exemption

28-12-2007 | | |

A joint statement was issued by the National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation, and US Poultry & Egg Association on last week’s announcement by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

“The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed to grant to poultry farmers a narrowly tailored exemption from rules that would otherwise require them to report ’emissions’ that are a normal result of livestock and poultry operations. This proposal saves around 40,000 poultry farmers unnecessary paperwork and communications,” according to the statement.

The EPA was additionally commended for acting with common sense.
