US turkey processor, West Liberty Foods has earned the ISO 14001:2004 certification for their manufacturing facility in Tremonton, Utah.

In 2004, they were the first turkey processor in the United States to receive this certification at the West Liberty, IA facility. They have since earned certifications for their Mount Pleasant, IA and now Tremonton, UT locations.

“West Liberty Foods is proud to have ISO 14001:2004 certification at all of our facilities” says  Gerald Lessard, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for West Liberty Foods. “The recent addition of the Tremonton facility ensures that we continue to minimise our manufacturing foot print on the environment for generations to come through our Environmental Management processes.”

The certification process is completed by a third party organisation who certifies organisations to the ISO 14001:2004 standard. The audits are performed to ensure that the organization’s Environmental Management system is developed from and conforms to the ISO 14001:2004 standard. Manufacturer preparation for this audit is lengthy and can require 2,500 man hours and up to 1 year to write, develop and implement procedures.
