Uzbekistan’s poultry sector on the rise

07-05-2012 | | |

By the end of 2012 the poultry stock in Uzbekistan will have increased to 48 million heads, experts predict. The production of eggs will rise 8% up to 3.85 billion pieces and poultry up 62,000 tonnes compared to the level of 2011.

However, according to preliminary expert estimates for 2011 Uzbekistan produced 4.2 billion eggs, but the actual figure was much lower at 3.44 billion.

These figures were announced during the recent round table discussion, the “Development of the poultry industry”, organised by the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the project “Business Forum of Uzbekistan”.

Currently, poultry production in Uzbekistan is one of the fastest growing sectors of agriculture, which quickly increased the volume of production and is capable of providing the population with high quality egg and meat products.

“Last year Uzbekistan actively attracted foreign investment in the poultry industry – in particular a collaboration was established with Muller, Helmann (Germany), Techno (Ukraine), as well as a number of companies from Russia, China, Turkey and Iran” representatives of Uzbekistan’s Poultry producers Union told at the conference. “The country is close to achieving self-sufficiency for poultry meat, which is now estimated at 82%, so soon it will be necessary to develop exports destinations”.
