World-first climate change centre opens in Australia

12-06-2008 | | |

Environment minister Peter Garrett has opened a study centre, described as the world’s first legal research centre into climate change, in Canberra, Australia.

The researchers at the centre will tackle issues such as the international legal regime for tackling climate change (after the Kyoto agreement runs out), climate litigation, as well as issues involving renewable energy, transport and forestry.
The centre will be at the Australian National University, which says there’s now a need for the ANU Centre for Climate Law and Policy.
