Aviagen Asia Pacific kicked off the 12th International Poultry Show and Seminar in Bangladesh by sharing insight on poultry breeding for sustainability. At the seminar portion of the event, the company explored Aviagen’s poultry breeding contributions that have strengthened the ability of poultry producers to feed their growing communities. Following the seminar, the company was on hand to greet customers and industry allies, showcase Aviagen’s Arbor Acres, Indian River, and Ross broiler breeding stock, and have conversations on current challenges facing farmers in Bangladesh and throughout Asia Pacific.
Zinpro, the manufacturer of organic trace minerals and animal nutrition solutions, has released its 2022 Sustainability Report, Advancing Performance Together for a More Sustainable World for All. In the report, the company shares examples of how proven animal nutrition improved the health, well-being and production efficiency of not only animals but producers’ businesses, which it says strengthens the case for nutrition as a critical component in driving more sustainable outcomes. For the poultry sector, the report highlights Zinpro Global Poultry Mineral Guide, the first-of-its kind guide that allows poultry nutritionists to formulate customized diets to achieve specific sustainability goals and meet the modern mineral needs of poultry production.
The family-owned company, responsible for brands such as the Happy Egg Co. and Purely Organic, will collaborate with charity Magic Breakfast to raise funds and create volunteering opportunities in support of the charity’s work at schools in the UK. Magic Breakfast, a registered UK charity, provides nutritious breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. The charity offers breakfasts to around 200,000 children. The charity also campaigns for long-term solutions to end hunger as a barrier to learning.
Evonik is expanding its capacity to produce MetAmino (DL-methionine) on Jurong Island, Singapore, by 40,000 mt to around 340,000 mt per year. The planned process optimisation measures will improve the carbon footprint of the product by 6%. Evonik’s methionine plants in Singapore, which came on stream in 2014 and 2019, were already the largest production complex for DL-methionine in the world, with an annual capacity of around 300,000 mt of MetAmino.
The first edition of the merger of the Dutch Poultry Expo and the Dutch Pork Expo in Den Bosch in the Netherlands was visited by nearly 6,000 professionals from the poultry and pig sectors, where around 170 exhibitors were present. Based on a public vote, Eco Air Care won the Innovation Award in the Poultry Expo.
Alltech has published a new white paper, ‘Organic selenium: A comparison of form, source and function’ by Dr Richard Murphy, director of research at Alltech. The paper focuses on the varying stabilities of the different selenium sources currently on the market and follows on from Murphy’s 2021 white paper which explored improved bioavailability with organic trace minerals.
The Danish premix company Vilomix has closed an agreement to acquire 75% of the Brazilian premix and minerals company Vitamix Nutrição Animal, which owns factories in Brazil and Paraguay. Vitamix works with producers throughout Brazil and Paraguay and produces vitamin and mineral blends, as well as specialty blends and feed additives for poultry, pigs and cattle.
Evonik has launched a new plant-based product, PhytriCare IM, which consists of selected plant extracts with a high flavonoid content, known for their anti-inflammatory effects. The product is available immediately throughout the EU, and approvals in other countries have been initiated. The company has also expanded its capacity to produce MetAmino (DL-methionine) on Jurong Island, Singapore, by 40,000 mt to around 340,000 mt per year.
