Aviagen celebrates opens new GP farms in east Africa

Aviagen recently celebrated the grand opening of its greenfield project, Aviagen East Africa Limited, in Arusha, Tanzania and is a joint venture company between Aviagen, African Poultry Development Limited and Country Bird Holdings Limited. Aviagen East Africa consists of new Grandparent farms and a Parent Stock hatchery.

Aviagen currently supplies all major poultry producers in the East African region with PS from our UK and European supply bases. From December 2022, Aviagen East Africa will be fully operational and customers in the region will begin receiving Ross 308 PS from our new regional supply base.

DSM updates OVN Optimum Vitamin Nutrition guidelines

Royal DSM has updated its OVN Optimum Vitamin Nutrition guidelines to deliver sustainable farming practices. The company says OVN is produced with a low environmental footprint and improves animal health and welfare by providing animals with high-quality vitamins in the optimal amount.

Evonik launches new sustainability podcast

Evonik has launched a new podcast dedicated to tackling the sustainability challenges facing the animal protein industry. In monthly episodes, the Sciencing Podcast will feature industry experts and explore the key sustainability challenges and opportunities facing the animal protein industry as it looks to reduce its environmental footprint.

CP Foods achieves 100% zero-deforestation maize supply

Charoen Pokphand Foods confirms that the maize supply chain has met the 100% zero-deforestation target, thanks to continual efforts in achieving sustainable and responsible sourcing and full traceability. All purchased maize is grown on land with legal land deeds, in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal and CP Foods policies to help farmers sustainably cope with climate impacts and protect biodiversity.

VNU Asia Pacific launches ILDEX Philippines

VNU Asia Pacific, the organiser of ILDEX Vietnam and ILDEX Indonesia, has announced a new show, ILDEX Philippines, in co-location with the Philippines Poultry Show from 7-9 June 2023 at SMX Convention Center Manila. The Philippines is the 3rd largest economy in Southeast Asia by nominal GDP, following Thailand and Indonesia. A bright future for the Philippines poultry industry is indicated by a 4% increase in chicken egg output in 2020 compared to the previous year – from 583,234 mt to 605,78 mt. The country’s chicken layer population expanded by 4.19% from 41.202 million birds to 42.928 million. “Our partner, the Philippines Poultry Show, already had established a solid base in the poultry sector over the past 10 years, and ILDEX will be adding more elements including swine, dairy, aquaculture etc. to this platform,” said Kevin Zhao Bo from VNU Asia Pacific.

Alltech opens Vietnam’s first organic mineral production facility

Alltech has opened its newest Bioplex plant, the first organic mineral production facility in Vietnam, and the company’s 8th mineral production facility worldwide. The plant’s production capacity is 7,000 metric tonnes (mt) per year. Vietnam’s total feed production in 2021 was 18.5 million mt over 2020, with broiler feed increasing 9% to 2.12 million mt and layers feed production increasing 11.7% to 2 million mt.

Australian Chicken Meat Federation welcomes new CEO

Australia’s peak coordinating body for participants in the chicken meat industry in Australia, the Australian Chicken Meat Federation, has welcomed a new CEO, registered veterinarian Dr Mary Wu, who comes to the chicken meat industry from the Australian Meat Industry Council where she was general manager of processing and export.
