ShellFoss launched mineral feed for eggshall stability
Vilofoss, a manufacturer of premixes and mineral feed for feed production, has introduced its latest innovation for the poultry industry: ShellFoss mineral feed, designed to optimise eggshell stability, specifically for laying hens, providing protection against cracked and misshapen eggs, particularly during the hens’ later laying stages. The specialized feed is also suitable for use in parent stocks.
Ovo-Vision enters partnership with Innovia Consulting
ERP egg business software solutions company Ovo-Vision has announced a partnership with Innovia Consulting to expand its software services and client onboarding capabilities in North America and Mexico. As part of this collaboration, Ovo-Vision will enhance its existing US team, leveraging Innovia Consulting’s expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and industry-specific knowledge.
TPI-Polytechniek introduces the ECC500 for the safe transportation of eggs
TPI-Polytechniek, producer and supplier of ventilation components for the agricultural sector, has launched its latest innovation, the ECC500, developed to help companies transport eggs safely and efficiently without compromising on quality or cost. The ECC500 fits various transport systems and can easily handle bends, inclines, and other transport challenges.
Alveo Technologies furthers developments in bird flu diagnostics
Public health laboratories in the US equipped to test for avian influenza in humans are limited. Alveo Technologies has, therefore, received an agreement issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to develop a rapid, molecular, point of need diagnostic to detect and differentiate between Influenza A + B, and A/H5 in humans. The company has also announced the launch of its first animal health diagnostic product, the Alveo Sense Avian Influenza Test. The product is launching in partnership with Netherlands-based Royal GD and UK-based x-OvO. The first shipments are now reaching early-access customers across the EU with further expansion planned throughout the EMEA region.
Targan secures European contract with Poland’s IKO Kompania Drobiarska
Animal agtech company Targan has confirmed new contract with IKO Kompania Drobiarska (IKO) for the installation of the WingScan automated feather-sexing system. IKO, a fully integrated poultry producer in Poland, is one of the first in Europe to integrate WingScan into it hatchery. The system offers a throughput of 40,000-160,000 chicks per hour with up to 98% accuracy.
Boehringer Ingelheim launches next generation poultry vaccine in India
Boehringer Ingelheim has launched a next generation vaccine against Marek’s disease in India. This represents a breakthrough in vaccine engineering, according to the company, and is recommended for in-ovo vaccination of 18 to 19-day-old embryonated chicken eggs and day-old chickens to protect against the virulent Marek’s disease.
Techna unveils nutrition and natural health innovations
Techna has launched Gallicalm in its ‘Feedia’ range: a premix of additives composed of active plant ingredients designed to reduce stress in poultry rearing, and to limit deviant behaviour such as pecking between birds, which can lead to feather loss, injuries and even serious complications such as cannibalism.
Vaxxinova receives EU marketing approval for ND vaccine
The European Commission has granted Vaxxinova EU marketing authorisation for the poultry vaccine Vaxxon ND Clone, a live freeze-dried vaccine for active immunisation of chickens (broilers, future layers and breeders) to reduce mortality and clinical signs of disease caused by infection with Newcastle Disease virus. This is the first EU licensed poultry vaccine for Vaxxinova in the European market.
Veos Group acquires OvaInnovations’ activities
Veos Group has acquired the activities of OvaInnovations, a producer of inedible egg proteins. The company will now have production capabilities in the US. The acquisition aligns with the Actipro brand, VEOS Group’s brand for functional proteins designed to support the feed and pet food industries.
Ceva invests in new vaccine manufacturing plant
Ceva Animal Health has unveiled its latest investment in European vaccine manufacturing with the construction of a new facility in Hungary, expanding the capacity of Ceva Phylaxia. This 7,000 sqm unit has been established in Monor, Hungary, where Ceva will produce fermentation-based multicomponent inactivated vaccines for animals.
Lubing celebrates 75 years and 1 billion drinking nipples
Since its foundation in 1949, Lubing has produced more than 1 billion drinking nipples, as noted by the company on its 75th anniversary. With 9 subsidiaries and 34 foreign representatives, the company now serves customers in 87 countries with products ranging from vertical conveyor units for egg transport to the certified waste air purification system for pig houses.
ITB-Climate launches new Air2-DS Pro heat exchanger
ITB-Climate has launched its Air2-DS Pro heat exchanger, designed to enable livestock farmers to reduce ammonia and particulate matter and heat, cool and ventilate energy efficiently in one solution. This heat exchanger reduces energy consumption by about 60% per year, according to the company. It is suitable for new and existing pig and poultry barns.
DSM-Firmenich receives EU authorisation for HiPhorius and partners with Format Solutions
DSM-Firmenich has announce the approval of HiPhorius for all poultry species for fattening or reared for laying or for breeding, sows of all Suidae species and all fin fish in the European Union. The company says that HiPhorius is a new generation phytase that allows for more efficient phosphorous utilisation and faster more efficient removal of the potent antinutrient phytate. The company has also partnered with Format Solutions, a provider of integrated formulation and feed ERP software. The collaboration brings together Format Solutions’ formulation software with the life cycle assessment platform Sustell, and aims to empower customers to calculate and share their feed footprints.
CB Group and Devenish Nutrition invest in poultry research facility
Jamaica’s CB Group and Northern Ireland’s Devenish Nutrition have partnered to commission an R&D facility for growing broiler chickens in a tropical climate in the Americas. The facility is based at The Nest, CB Group’s eco-industrial park in Jamaica, also home to its CB Chicken Air Chill Processing Plant. The House has 48 pens and has been designed in a way that allows for up to 6 different dietary treatments to be evaluated during each trial. The facility will be utilised to scientifically test variables such as feed formulations, housing conditions, and breeds to determine the best combination for the region.
Alltech 2024 US and European Harvest Analyses interim reports released
Alltech has released an interim report with the preliminary findings of its mycotoxin testing programme. In its 2024 European Harvest Analysis, samples of new-crop grains and forages collected from farms or animal feed production sites in 20 countries are tested. Corn samples from central and southern Europe are also tested in collaboration with SGS. The report shows moderate to high mycotoxin risk so far in 2024, with significant regional variations. Type B trichothecenes and emerging mycotoxins are most prevalent, but type B trichothecenes like deoxynivalenol are bringing the most risk in grains. The report also details specific results from wheat and barley, straw and forages. In the Alltech 2024 US Harvest Analysis, the preliminary analysis of corn silage samples reveals a high increase in mycotoxin contamination compared to 2023, with all samples containing 2 or more mycotoxins.
Cargill publishes 2024 Impact Report
Cargill has shared its Fiscal Year 2024 Impact Report, which details the company’s progress in sustainability. Highlights include an investment of US$100 million in sustainability projects; reducing emissions by 15.8%; advancing regenerative agriculture practices on 1.1 million acres of N. American land since 2020; restoring more than 38 billion liters of water in water-stressed regions; distributing more than US$130 million to support partners and local communities; providing 34 million meals globally, and; delivering more than 700,000 farmer trainings focused on sustainable agriculture practices.

Perstorp Group appoints Ian Atterbury to lead Animal Nutrition
Perstorp Group has appointed Ian Atterbury joining as senior vice president of its Animal Nutrition business, effective 13 January 2025. Atterbury has over 30 years of experience in the animal nutrition industry. He has been working globally for the majority of his career and has a strong background in leading and growing animal nutrition business. He succeeds Aart Mateboer who retired earlier this year.
