This year, Poultry World will once again host live seminars at the EuroTier show in Hanover, Germany. On Thursday, 14 November, the topics of poultry gut health and sustainability & welfare will be the focus of the seminars in Hall 17 at Expert Stage Poultry.

Poultry World Editor Fabian Brockotter will speak to experts in the respective fields who will share their knowledge and insights.

Gut health | 10.00 – 11.30 (CET)

In this seminar on gut health, experts will focus on how to achieve healthier poultry through a balanced gut and by supplying the birds with the necessary nutrients. Keeping the birds healthy and feeding them accordingly with the right ingredients and additives demands a high level of knowledge and the full attention of the nutritionist, farm manager and veterinarian.

Experts share their top tips on improving the birds gut health. The topic will be viewed from an on-farm angle and a nutritional angle, as speakers will address solutions how to tackle gut health without the use of antibiotics and with the use of alternatives.

Speakers:

  • Ellen van Eerden: researcher Poultry Nutrition at Schothorst Feed Research
  • Antoine Meuter: global product manager Poultry, Commercial Development APHN at Novonesis
  • Dr Alain Riggi: DVM global species manager, Poultry, at Phileo
  • Alexandra Witte: sales manager Feed Additives at Denkavit

Sustainability & Welfare | 12.00 – 13.30 (CET)

The topic of sustainability and welfare are all-encompassing and include care for the environment and the birds, as well as food safety and security while paying attention to economics. However, not every element works together without a hitch. Improving sustainability and welfare in poultry production means not only reducing costs and maximising productivity, but also a focus on bird health and welfare and other societal concerns. Getting the balance right is key. Consumer demands mainly focus on food safety and animal welfare, but improving health and performance make the real difference when it comes to impact on both birds, planet and profit.

Speakers:

  • Dr Katy Tarrant: Professor at Fresno State Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education and director of the Center for the Optimization Of Poultry (COOP)
  • Marina Panheleux: head of Group Innovation at CCPA
  • Tim Burnside: global vice president, Welfare, Sustainability & Compliance, Aviagen Group
  • Dr K. Narender Reddy, CEO at Natural Remedy
