British Lion has launched a toolkit to help retailers, wholesalers, food service businesses and consumers to celebrate British Egg Week, which this year takes place between 8 and 14 October.

This year, the campaign centres around being hangry – a type of rage caused by lack of food – something which research indicates about 80% of Britons have admitted to experiencing. To help convey this, British egg has created 2 “emojis” – the small symbolic designs such as smiley faces that pepper mobile conversations. Andrew Joret, British Egg Industry Council chairman, explains: “British Egg Week is the perfect excuse to celebrate and sell more eggs by encouraging customers to get cracking to avoid being hangry. Whether you’re a retailer, wholesaler, food manufacturer, caterer or all round egg fan, the toolkit makes it easier for you to get involved, everyone is free to celebrate British Egg Week in style for the first time in 30 years.”
