Turkey production has been the star performer in the UK poultry meat sector in the first 9 months of this year.
Total output has been up by 9% overall compared with Jan-Sept 2016, a rise of 10,000 tonnes to 122,000t, according to latest figures from Defra.
Production increased in every month except January and May, while average growth in August and September reached 18%.
The peak month for turkey output in the UK is October, so the next figures from Defra will give a pointer to Christmas expectations.
