A delegation of the National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC) led by chairperson Anuradha J Desai met with Sharad Pawar, the Union Agriculture Minister to requested a special package for poultry farmers to help them survive the current conditions.

The price of maize has increased in both Indian and International markets, however the price of soya meal risen in the Indian market in sharp contrast to the international market trends. As a result of the capital cost of farmers increased almost by 80% and many breeding and hatching farms have gone out of business.

The delegation submitted proposals in terms of loan repayment moratorium, interest subvention, sanction of additional working capital from the union minister for farmers. Pawar assured the delegation that steps would be taken to help poultry farmers.
