In Mexico, the last federal district has eradicated Newcastle disease and as a result, the country will soon acquire a disease-free status.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food has published a document in the Official Journal of the Federation which stated the federal districts which have been declared free of Newcastle disease, the last being Mexixo City.
Samples taken from various commercial and backyard poultry farms have revealed the absence of the virus causing the disease.
To remain free of the disease, application of several sanitary measures for diagnosis, prevention, control, surveillance and movement control has been advised.
