Summit addresses nutrient pollution from chicken farms

Researchers and environmental leaders will come together on Thursday, 1 November, in Salisbury for the Eastern Shore Poultry Summit. Organised by the Waterkeeper Alliance, the summit will take place 09.00-16:30 in the Flanders Room of the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center, and will focus on pollution from chicken farms that harm area waterways. Stakeholders from around the Chesapeake Bay will convene to discuss efforts to reduce the amount of chicken waste that flows from poultry farms on the Eastern Shore into the bay. According to the organisers, the summit is designed to promote realistic ways to reduce the nutrient runoff that harms marine life. The event is open to the public at no cost.
