Alltech appoints new UK poultry technical manager

Animal health and nutrition company, Alltech, has appointed John Cooper as Poultry Technical Manager for the UK.

Cooper, who replaces Judd Culver following his return to the United States, will be responsible for co-ordinating technical and sales support throughout all sectors of its UK poultry business including broiler breeders, layers, growers, turkeys, ducks and game.

The appointment is one of three new positions at Alltech in 2014, with other roles in the ruminant and arable sectors.

Joining from his role as Hatchery Manager for 2 Agriculture, Cooper is keen to take on the new challenge. “My career has given me thorough grounding in all aspects of the industry, both practical and managerial,” he says. “I managed both breeder rearing and laying farms for Cargill. I was National Chick Sales Manager then Hatchery Manager for Vion Agriculture, which was acquired by 2 Agriculture, eventually overseeing the processing of around 500K chicks per week.”

Alltech’s feed supplements – all based on yeast, fermentation and natural enzyme technology – are scientifically proven to make a significant difference to gut health and efficiency.

“I have become convinced that natural, sustainable products – rather than a reliance on antibiotics – are the future” adds Cooper. “I think there are big improvements to be made in poultry performance.”
