CPF unveils eco-friendly chicken feed

Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) has launched an eco-friendly chicken feed that combines a proportionate nutrient formula and enzymes for better nutrient absorption and digestion. The innovation reduces waste, primarily carbon dioxide. Dr Pairat Srichana, the Group’s senior VP in the Feed Technology Office which researches and develops animal feed for CPF, said the innovative formula, which was invented with a right balance of amino acid and proportionate enzymes for animals at different ages, enhances digestion. It also cuts down excess raw materials like corn and protein thereby resulting in less waste.

Big Dutchman constructing new layer houses in Bahrain

Bahrain egg producer General Poultry Company has commissioned German poultry equipment supplier Big Dutchman with the construction and equipment of 8 new modern barns for egg production. The new buildings will replace the older ones, the equipment of which was also purchased from Big Dutchman 40 years ago. The project consists of 2 houses for pullet rearing with 79,000 birds each, and 6 layer houses for 75,000 layers each. The start of egg production is planned for March 2021.

Nabel launches new tray washer

Nabel has released a new, stainless steel egg tray washer, the PTW200 with a capacity of 2,000 trays per hour.

Feed additives company NUQO launched

Founded in France, NUQO has been launched. The company is involved in the development, production and supply of natural ingredients using algae bioactives and encapsulation techniques. Solutions that help animal performance, health and welfare are manufactured in 3 different production sites across Europe, using technology that “preserves efficacy and optimal release of active ingredients”.

Meat and Poultry Industry Russia 2020 postponed

The Meat and Poultry Industry Russia 2020 management team has decided to postpone the exhibition (originally planned for end May) to October 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 90% of the exhibitors agreed that the postponement of the event is the best solution. Meat and Poultry Industry Russia 2020, which is powered by VIV worldwide, is looking forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors to Moscow.

Nutreco selects Feed&Food Tech Challenge finalists

Nutreco has announced the finalists for the Nutreco Feed&Food Tech Challenge. Over 110 start-ups worldwide submitted their innovations within livestock farming, aquaculture and alternative food proteins categories to address critical challenges in the feed and food value chain. A total of 15 finalists have been selected to advance to the next round of the competition, which will involve a 3-day final event in the Netherlands, the date of which is to be confirmed.

CPF helps in the fight against COVID-19

Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) has implemented stronger health and safety measures throughout its supply chain to ensure the highest standard of food safety and to guarantee traceability. The company has also launched a video presenting internationally recognised food safety standard operation and the robotic instillation in the production line to reduce human contact with foods. Furthermore, under CPF’s Food from the Heart Against COVID-19, Project Charoen Pokphand Foods has provided healthy food support to Thai frontline medical staff to combat the COVID-19 pandemic with an approximate budget of Bt200 million (US$6 million).

Roy Mutimer appointed MD of Cobb Europe

Cobb-Vantress veteran Roy Mutimer recently accepted the role of managing director for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Mutimer, who has been with the company for 25 years, has served Cobb in nearly every region around the globe, most recently as VP of operations. In addition to overseeing the production, sale and technical service of grandparent and parent stock across the EMEA region, Mutimer will also serve in a global capacity on the animal welfare team.

Perstorp appoints Vilson Simon as VP for the Americas

Feed additive and specialty chemicals company Perstorp has appointed Vilson Antonio Simon as vice president in charge of the Animal Nutrition Business Area in the Americas. Simon will be responsible for the sales and GTM strategies with the company’s distributors and agents, as well as leading and developing Animal Nutrition sales and technical teams in the Americas. Simon holds degrees in Veterinary Medicine (with Post-Graduation in Poultry & Swine Production), General Management and Agroenergy.

Dr Marc de Beer appointed president of Aviagen North America

Aviagen welcomes Dr Marc de Beer as its new president of North America, where he will be responsible for advancing the company’s long-term business strategy and strengthening service to customers throughout Canada and the US. Dr de Beer has received a Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition and began his career as a nutritionist for Aviagen. He comes to Aviagen from Elanco Animal Health, where he was senior VP, Food Animal and Global Nutritional Health, US.

James Bentley appointed Hubbard’s global technical director

Dr James Bentley has accepted the position of global technical director at Hubbard. Bentley has over 30 years of work experience in poultry breeding, nutrition and management. After his BSc. degree in Agriculture he obtained his PhD. Most recently Bentley has been working closely together with Hubbard as a consultant assisting the company’s technical team to provide customers with advice for both broiler breeders and broilers covering mainly nutrition and management aspects. More recently his involvement focused mostly on the Asian region.
