Biomin builds on Mycotoxin Channel

Offering mycotoxin webinar series on YouTube, Biomin aims to build up this unique database with a wider range of speakers and topics in 2010.

Mycotoxins continue to pose a key challenge to feed and livestock producers everywhere. Ingesting contaminated feed has been proven to drastically hurt the health and performance of animals, and eventually, the bottom-line in animal farming.

Addressing this common scourge of the livestock industry, Biomin in August 2009 launched the Mycotoxin Channel on YouTube. The Channel has proven to be a hit, says Biomin.

The Mycotoxin Channel features more than 70 videos on a wide range of mycotoxin-related issues pertaining to analysis, risk management, symptoms and species-specific health questions for the swine, poultry and ruminant sectors. An area of growing interest is also that of human health-related issues, underscoring the close association between feed and food safety.

Responding to the positive reception, Biomin plans to grow the Mycotoxin Channel by continuing to add a new video each week. Upcoming experts will also be invited to present their knowledge on a range of mycotoxin risk management and health issues. Tapping on input from all over the world, these experts hail from the USA, Canada, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, Nigeria and Malaysia, adding relevance to the Channel’s global viewership.

“Mycotoxins are a major issue in the livestock and feed industry and we want this channel to not just convey what Biomin is doing, but to provide unbiased, scientific and objective information on mycotoxin control”, explains Jürgen Dreissker, Project Manager for the Mycotoxin Channel.
