More than 800,000 health volunteers are now travelling door-to-door in 30 Thai provinces to educate people on bird flu prevention, according to Thailand’s Caretaker Public Health Minister Pinij Jarusombat.
The volunteer ‘bird flu busters’ began work yesterday and will continue until August 31, visiting each house in the 30 provinces that have been affected by the deadly H5N1 strain, to advise people on how to deal with sick or dead birds.
“They will give information to people about what they should do to be seriously safe from bird flu,” Pinij said.
Posters and leaflets will be distributed with easy-to-understand words and cartoons, he said.
