Cobb rebuilds headquarters after snow damage

The exceptional snowfall last winter prompted Cobb-Vantress to reconstruct the oldest part of its headquarters building at Siloam Springs, Arkansas, USA.

The damage caused by the weight of 24 inches (60 cm) of snow on the roof has made it unsafe to continue using these offices and a ten-month project to remodel and rebuild this front part of the premises is now well under way.

A high level of energy saving is incorporated into the design of the materials and heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, with improved facilities for visiting groups.

“This is certainly not a project we’d expected to undertake — but it became essential when the scale of the damage was apparent with the roof structure in danger of collapse,” says Dave Juenger, director of support services for Cobb-Vantress.

“This part of the headquarters is 25 years old and was constructed at a time when the company was just beginning the development of the Cobb500, having moved from New England to Arkansas. The main emphasis continues to be on investing in new research farms and production facilities.”

While the building work continues, the staff are doubling up in the other office accommodations, with the new facilities expected to be complete in May.
