Egypt: 54th human case of bird flu

The Egyptian Health Ministry has confirmed that a 2-year-old baby has been infected with bird flu. This brings the number of human case of avian influenza in the country to 54.

The child was from the Suez governorate, about 120 km east of Cairo, was admitted to hospital with a high temperature. The baby contracted the deadly virus after being in contact with infected birds.

This is the third case of human bird flu in Egypt in 2009.
