European Commission to ask EU to lift ban on China’s cooked poultry

15-06-2007 | |

European Commission (EC) is to ask all the European Union members to agree to lift the import ban on China’s cooked poultry.

The decision was made following trade talks this week between China’s Commerce Minister Bo Xilai and the EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson.

According to a press release issued by the Chinese delegation, Mandelson and his team vowed to resume normal trade between the two sides in the near future. However, not date has yet been set.

The ban was imposed following the outbreak of bird flu on China’s mainland in 2004.
