Aviagen recently joined forces with Cargill, one of Aviagen’s largest global customers, to host the first Cargill poultry production management school in Lopburi, Thailand.
The school, aimed at the senior agriculture managers of the future, brought together ten Cargill delegates from Thailand, the UK, Central America and Brazil to take part in the week-long course. The content of the school covered all stages of poultry production, from breeders to broilers and processing, including hatchery management, nutrition and health.
The Aviagen team and a variety of industry experts took the participants through a series of presentations, discussions and practical workshops. Each session was designed to allow delegates to gain the latest industry news, as well as gaining practical experience and knowledge about the various aspects of the industry. The school also allowed participants to network and strengthen the relationships between Cargill and Aviagen.
Dr Rafael Monleon, Aviagen’s Regional Veterinarian and Course Coordinator, said: “The event was aimed at the senior agriculture managers of the future and they have taken on board a huge amount of information in a short period of time through various presentations and hands-on practical sessions. We are confident that all delegates will use what they have learned in order to improve the management of their flocks and achieve maximum performance from their Aviagen stock.”
John Reed, Agricultural Director, Cargill Meats Europe, added:” The feedback we received has been really positive and we hope to hold similar events in different locations around the world in the future. The school provided an excellent opportunity to build relationships and share experiences with colleagues from a variety of countries around the world. We would like to thank the Aviagen team for their help and support in putting this worthwhile event together.”
