Hong Kong continues importing poultry from UK

16-04-2007 | |

Hong Kong’s Centre for Food Safety has announced that the processing of applications of importing poultry and poultry products from the UK has been resumed; however, the county of Suffolk was not included.

Following the outbreak of bird flu in the Suffolk farm in the UK, the Centre suspended processing of all poultry applications from the country.
“In view of the control measures taken by the United Kingdom, and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported, we decide to resume processing of applications,” said a spokesman.
“Restrictions are not lifted for Suffolk as we are still monitoring the situation there,” he added.
