Dutch broiler breeding company Hybro has completed the second phase of a redevelopment programme at its pure line pedigree farm in the Netherlands.
The programme of expansion and facilities improvements, which took 18 months to complete, is already demonstrating substantial improvements.
The redevelopment programme was initiated late in 2004, together with the decision for the establishment of the new PL/GGPS centre in Brazil. Hybro’s operations manager and head of the Herveld Project, Nico Kooter, says the new facilities fully meet the company’s expectations, boosting the pace of Hybro’s genetic development programme.
“We are now able to extend our PL capacity by 25%, allowing us to conduct more and new measurements at pure line level,” Kooter explained. “And especially in the field of reproduction-traits, these investments allow us to add a number of new measurements.”
