New Salmonella test kit now available

A lateral flow system Salmonella test kit is now available for the detection of Salmonella in foods.

The simple-to-use system is capable of detecting one colony-forming unit (cfu) of Salmonella in a 25 g food sample in just 24 hours. The kit is suitable for use with a wide range of food types, including poultry, dairy products, eggs, processed meats, and other fresh produce.

Requiring no capital investment and minimal training, the DuPont lateral flow system Salmonella test kit produced by Oxoid (Basingstoke, UK) is suitable for both large and small laboratories. A control line demonstrates that the test has performed correctly and the appearance of a second test line indicates a positive result.

The DuPont lateral flow system range includes products for the detection of Listeria and Escherichia coli O157, and complements the Oxoid DuPont Qualicon Bax system for detecting pathogens, including fungi. Oxoid also offers the food industry a comprehensive selection of culture media and manual test kits for the identification of a wide range of food-borne pathogens and food spoilage micro-organisms.
