Pakistan: no pig meat in poultry feed

07-11-2007 | |

According to the Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA), there has been no corruption on their part regarding the mixing of pig meat in the poultry feed.

Former PPA chairman Mohammad Aslam said that the PPA rejects the claim of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock and Federal Board of Revenue that it had been involved in the contamination of poultry feed by importing pig meat.
There are 120 feed mills throughout Pakistan, with local feed production of 5 million tonnes. “Pakistan has never imported poultry feed. During 2005-06, the country did import the ‘bone and meat meal’ for the poultry feed, but it was free of any contamination,” said M. Aslam.
