The Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) has praised the measures taken by the government in the 2006-07 financial year to improve the local poultry sector.

A PPA delegation, headed by its Chairman Raza Mehmood Khursand praised the government for giving incentives to the poultry industry, and hoped the support provided by the government would help revive the industry.

Khursand assured the minister that poultry industry would make the best use of incentives, which were being given to the industry. Moreover, Pakistan Poultry Industry is organising an International Poultry Congress on August 25 and 26 in Lahore. An exhibition would also be held on the occasion. Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock promised to attend the moot.

The PPA Chairman requested that soft loans be issued to small and medium farmers on easy instalments. He also said that disparity in electricity tariffs for poultry farms and hatcheries must be removed.
