Poultry breeders receive compensation
The Malaysian government will pay compensation of about RM80,000 to poultry breeders and villagers whose chickens, ducks and other birds have been culled following an outbreak of bird flu in Sungai Buloh.
According to Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the payment would be made in full for the 3,962 birds culled in Kampung Paya Jaras Hilir in Sungai Buloh once the nation is declared free of the
bird flu.
“The government will monitor the situation so that the nation can be declared free of bird flu in about one month,” he said.
Muhyiddin said the Veterinary Services Department (JPH) had reported that the situation in the bird flu outbreak area was under control and that all birds in the so-called index area had been destroyed.
