Poultry feed: quality vs price

02-07-2007 | |

A seminar on the use of quality feed for poultry recently took place, organised by Sampoorna Feeds and the American Soybean Association.

Hundreds of poultry farmers from different districts in and around Srinagar, India, attended the programme. Experts paid special interest to the use of quality feed, particularly for growing chicks.
Regional marketing manager of Sampoorna Feeds, Dr Kiram Sandhi, proposes that instead of asking for low rate poultry feed, they should want to receive better quality feed from the suppliers.
Responding to the queries from farmers that Sampooran feed cost them Rs3 (US$0.07) extra, Sandhi said, “Our feed is highly nutritional and a balanced diet for the growing chicks and helps in the quick growth of the poultry birds.”
Ashish Gupta of Sampoorna Feeds gave a detailed account of the different contents in the feed they produce. “Farmers should concentrate more on Value Conversion Ratio instead of demanding low rate feed,” Gupta said, adding that they were supplying feed to the farmers on nominal rates.
