Poultry rest day tomorrow

09-01-2007 | |

Retailers in Hong Kong have been reminded by the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department that tomorrow, Wednesday, 10 January, is the next poultry rest day.

Market stall operators and owners of provision shops must suspend business in the afternoon and evening to attend to thorough cleaning and disinfection.

Retailers in Hong Kong are to strictly observe rest-day conditions and ensure all live poultry remaining in their stalls or shops are slaughtered before noon. Unsold live poultry are not permitted to be removed from the premises to avoid slaughtering.

Outlets will be inspected tomorrow by the Department. Failure to comply will lead to cancellation of shop licences or termination of stall tenancies.
