The Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association has asked the Commerce Ministry to negotiate with the EU to increase the quota for processed chicken under the terms of the Asean-EU trade agreement.
The reason is because imports of processed chicken are already approaching the designated limit of 160,033 t.
The tariff for processed chicken exports is 8%, above this amount the tariff is 53%, says Suthep Tirapipahanakul, EVP, Betagro, urging the Commerce Ministry to negotiate the raise in the Asean quota to 250,953 t.
