Request for EU to boost Thai chicken quota

The Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association has asked the Commerce Ministry to negotiate with the EU to increase the quota for processed chicken under the terms of the Asean-EU trade agreement.

The reason is because imports of processed chicken are already approaching the designated limit of 160,033 t.

The tariff for processed chicken exports is 8%, above this amount the tariff is 53%, says Suthep Tirapipahanakul, EVP, Betagro, urging the Commerce Ministry to negotiate the raise in the Asean quota to 250,953 t.
