Smuggled Chinese poultry seized

The Bureau of Customs has confiscated three container vans full of smuggled poultry products from China.

The vans with the poultry, on board the vessel Quindao Star, were seized at the Manila International Container Port in the Philippines.
According to customs agents, the shipment of Peking duck and chicken fillet in the vans are believed to be contaminated with foot and mouth disease and bird flu.
Officials said the poultry products were consigned to Ideal Gaze Marketing in Muntinlupa City. They were misdeclared as chocolate wafers.
The bureau said that the government ban against the entry of meat and poultry products from China still exists because of the bird flu and FMD threats.
