A new Poultry Farmers’ Association has been set up in Tajikistan, said Muzaffar Mirzoyev of the Tajik Ministry of Agriculture, in an interview with Asia-Plus.

He said the association will be registered with the Ministry of Justice within the next few days.

The issue of establishment of the poultry farmers’ association was discussed at a two-day scientific and practical conference that was held in Dushanbe last December.

The conference discussed issues related to development of poultry in the country.

It brought together specialists and poultry plant managers from Tajikistan, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Iran to discuss the present state of the poultry industry and ways to ensure development of this important sector.

Mirzoyev noted that modern equipment would be installed at three of four poultry farms in Tajikistan in March this year.

He said that the country’s poultry farms last year produced 71.928 million eggs, which is 35 million pieces more than in 2007.
