Third IPC annual meeting scheduled

The third annual poultry meeting of the International Poultry Council will be held on 26 September in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

The meeting will be held in conjunction with the biennial XX Latin American Poultry Council, from 15-18 September at the Fiergs Exposition and Convention Centre in Porto Alegre.
This upcoming meeting will take a closer look at the emerging issue of animal welfare and its implications for poultry production, the status of the Doha Round negotiations in the World Trade Organization, as well as market reports from various country delegations.
Poultry industry representatives in more than 20 countries are currently members of the IPC, which was formed in 2005 as a cooperative forum for the world’s poultry producing countries.
“After having met in Europe, North America and in Asia, it’s only appropriate that the IPC meets in South America in hopes of creating increased interest in this major poultry producing region,” said IPC president Jim Sumner. “Up until now we have focused on issues such as avian influenza, but we believe time is right to turn attention to the numerous other issues facing our industry, such as animal welfare and the status of international trade negotiations.”
