Ukraine struggles to access EU poultry market

Ukrainian enterprises are ready to start poultry and livestock exports to the EU, local media reports.

“Currently we are continuing negotiations with the European Union’s veterinary committee,” said the head of the Ukrainian State Veterinary Medicine Committee Peter Verbitsky.

According to him, the committee decides whether to grant Ukraine the right to issue permits on livestock exports to EU countries.

European experts have already inspected a number of Ukrainian enterprises, and “gave green light” to some of them on export of eggs, dairy products, poultry and beef to the European Union.

“The next talks will be held in September-October this year, resulting in getting a final approval to export these products to the EU,” said Verbitsky.
