UPDATE: Chicken not source of salmonella at Broughton

18-04-2007 | |

The manager of the nursing home, Broughton Hall, in Melbourne, Australia, claims that the three-day-old chicken meal was not to blame for the recent outbreak of gastroenteritis.

The outbreak resulted in the deaths of 5 people and placing of 5 others in hospital. Tests linked the outbreak to a salmonella infection.
However, Sharon McGowan, executive manager of Benetas, which manages the nursing home in suburban Camberwell, stressed that the cause of the outbreak is still being investigated.
