A 23-year-old woman in the northern province of Quang Ninh in Vietnam died on 21 February after testing positive to bird flu virus of H5N1 strain.
Ly Tai Mui was hospitalised on 3 February with symptoms of high fever, blood pressure extremely down and severe acute respiratory syndrome. She was later tested positive to the deadly influenza, type A H5N1 virus.
Mui died after 18 days of medical treatment, including the modern breathing apparatus, blood screening and blood transmission and dialysis, costing an estimated 20 million VND a day, according to the provincial hospital.
