Aviagen at IPE 2012

At IPE 2012, Aviagen is sets up its booth to demonstrate its ability to lead globally and partner locally.

As poultry industry professionals from around the world gather at this year’s International Poultry Exhibition (IPE) 2012, Aviagen is set to man the booth (2057), it’s theme this year being: “Global Leader. Local Partner. Right Choice.”

At IPE 2012, which begins Tuesday and runs through Thursday at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Aviagen will present the latest updates on its Ross, Arbor Acres and Indian River broiler breeder brands.

As more marketplaces increasingly look to poultry as an affordable source of protein, Aviagen’s domain experts hope to enlighten attendees about the latest technology and tools, best practices, and improvements that have been made in poultry genetics and performance.

Many of those developments will be aired in a conference session led by Dr. Eric Jensen, GP Program Veterinarian with Aviagen, who will deliver a presentation on “Salmonella Control in Broiler Breeders.”

Jensen will cover strategies for salmonella control that improve the effectiveness of salmonella control programs in broiler breeder operations.

He will also provide an overview of Aviagen’s biosecurity protocols and other control strategies for salmonella control and food safety.

“It was more than 50 years ago that Aviagen first exhibited at IPE, and throughout those five plus decades, our focus has always been on helping our customers succeed with our products,” said Ben Thompson, President of Aviagen, Inc.

At IPE 2012, Aviagen will also spotlight the year’s major developments.

In 2011, Aviagen made significant investments to expand its presence worldwide and serve more markets and customers, drove new education initiatives as part of its customer support program, and enacted a series of internal process improvements that have enabled the company to perform more efficiently across the board.

To recap 2011, Aviagen:

Completed construction and opened two new internal Veterinary Services Laboratories, one in the UK and one in the US.
Acquired a remaining interest in Ross Breeders Peninsular S.A., the distributor for Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
Extended its Grandparent (GP) production base in Iraq through an agreement with Rasun, part of the Vano Group, an Iraqi agriculture company.
Formed Aviagen France, a new Aviagen business unit emerging from the purchase of GP production facilities of Grelier France Accouver (GFA).
Signed on several new distributors and expanded business with others, including All-Noor Chicks in Pakistan, Pure Breed Poultry Company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), and Chong Jung Grandparent Company (CJB) in Korea.
Transitioned Ross Breeders Anadolu, in the Central Anatolian region of Turkey, from a joint venture to a wholly owned Aviagen company.
Became the first poultry breeder to achieve compartment status for all its facilities in the UK.

Aviagen shares that knowledge with customers through regular on-site visits, regional seminars, workshops, Aviagen Production Management Schools and other forums.

In addition, Aviagen experts serve on many professional organizations to help the industry pursue needed advancements.

These experts include Aviagen’s Kelly Wheeler, who serves as president of the Animal Transportation Association (ATA); Eric Jensen, president of the American College of Poultry Vets; and Sigrid House, who serves as president of the Egg Air Cargo Committee.
