California to make big decisions on poultry welfare

14-07-2010 | | |

From 2015, no battery eggs will be sold anymore in the state California. The bill A.B.1437 to make this decision official was signed last week by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Co-initiator and driving force behind this decision is the Humane Society of the United States, an organization with 11 mln members and a budget of around US$120 mln.

The organization employs its own veterinarians and – reportedly – some 60 lawyers who are assisting in the enforcement of socio-political goals.
